Quizlet

  • Quizlet.com
  • Quizlet is an online tool that allows instructors and students to create study materials or use materials in a bank of already created sets. Instructors and students can create “Study Sets”, which involve terms and definitions. Once the set is created, students utilize the flashcard, learn, spell, test, match, gravity features. Each utilizes a different method of learning the term. The flashcard has an audio feature that reads the term and definition aloud. Learn shows the definition and asks the student to write the word, utilizing retrieval. Matching utilizes recognition, while gravity makes has the student type the definition as an asteroid with the term falls down the screen. The sets can be more complex using audio and images. Quizlet is accessible on a variety of devices and is a great way to study, review, or reinforce course concepts. Instructors can create classes (up to 8 for free) in which student can access, study, and create their own sets if the instructor gives them this ability. Instructors can also keep track of student and class progress. Teacher Quizlet is 34.99. This allows you to organize and create unlimited classes.

Pedagogical Ideas

This technology can be used in the classroom for:

  • Multiple learning methods: Instructors can create study sets that are presented to the student’s indifferent ways. This utilizes different learning styles as well as different ways to enhance memorization of the Terms.
  • Creating set: Students could create study sets as a class assignment. Student could be asked to look up specific terms for the class and create study set for the class. This could be an individual or group project. This could engage learners further and make could increase student collaboration.
