Technology Teaching Tools

Technology Teaching Tools are short, online, asynchronous modules highlighting a technology teaching tool along with relevant pedagogical implementation strategies. Some of the CIRT Technology Tools discussed below rely on freeware downloads. Prior to utilizing these technologies, you are encouraged to understand the potential risks associated with freeware; see the article "Why Free Software Downloads Aren't Always Safe" for an overview of key considerations.

  • Scribeasy is an app that assists students in writing creative stories. Scribeasy allows students to choose people, places, and things to add into their visual story. After manipulating these objects on the app, the app then assists the students in writing a story to accompany the visuals by providing synonyms for common words, assisting with editing, etc.

Pedagogical Ideas

At the college level, this application would be difficult to incorporate as it is geared toward elementary school students. However, this app might be useful for students enrolled in creative writing classes to give them a new way of discovering ideas. This application could also be used for students in elementary education classes to introduce them to technology that they might use in their future classrooms.
