Pedagogical Ideas
In the classroom, YouTube can be used in a variety of ways. Some ideas include the following:
- 3 Minutes of Fame - Split the class into groups of 3 or 4 students. Have them create and videotape a commercial for a new product. Upload the videos to YouTube. Embed the YouTube videos in the class website for easy access.
- Video Audition - For the school play or annual production, have potential cast members videotape their auditions and upload them to YouTube. Judges can view the audition tapes at their leisure avoiding the long and drawn-out "audition evening."
- Teacher Exclusive: Get Content - Download topically-relevant videos for use in the classroom. Be sure to pre-screen videos before sharing them in your class.
- Administrator Exclusive: Silent Auction - Expand your radius of interest. Videotape items for sale at the annual silent auction. Post the video to YouTube. Interested parties e-mail their bids on the available items to a generic account established by the school for this event. Respond to the e-mail of the winning bidder to make arrangements for the item to be delivered.
