Technology Teaching Tools

Technology Teaching Tools are short, online, asynchronous modules highlighting a technology teaching tool along with relevant pedagogical implementation strategies. Some of the CIRT Technology Tools discussed below rely on freeware downloads. Prior to utilizing these technologies, you are encouraged to understand the potential risks associated with freeware; see the article "Why Free Software Downloads Aren't Always Safe" for an overview of key considerations.

  • Lino is an online stick note program that allows the user to place electronic stick note reminders on their desktop, or smartphone, and share them with others and can be obtained with a free sign-up.

Pedagogical Ideas

In the classroom, Lino can be used in a several ways. Some ideas include the following:

  • Sticky notes- Can be placed in documents as reminders and made in numerous colors so they are easy to see and not be overlooked. The stick notes can later be moved from one document to another, or shared with others.
  • Photo layouts – Photos can be arranged on a blank ‘canvass’ which is a background that can be selected, and then saved and shared with others. This can be a thematic presentation, or just photos from an event.
