Pathway

The Social Presence Literacy Pathway is designed to guide educators through a structured journey of professional development, engagement, and leadership in the realm of social presence. As technology continue to shape the future of education, our pathway offers a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of social presence and enhance your teaching practices in meaningful ways.

How It Works

The pathway is composed of three progressive levels, each offering distinct opportunities and benefits:

1. Social Presence Literacy Explorers

  • Who They Are: Educators at the beginning of their journey into social presence literacy, eager to learn and grow.
  • What They Receive: Explorers gain access to a wealth of resources, including a quarterly newsletter, early access to webinars, and invitations to participate in discussions. They are recognized with an Explorers Badge.
  • Path to Advancement: After one year, Explorers can apply to become Ambassadors, moving up the pathway as they gain experience and knowledge.

*Please be aware that this role is voluntary and does not include a stipend.

2. Social Presence Literacy Ambassadors

  • Who They Are: Educators with demonstrated potential and dedication, ready to take a more active role in the lab.
  • What They Receive: Ambassadors enjoy all the benefits of the Explorers level, plus exclusive access to advanced workshops, an Ambassador digital badge, and opportunities to contribute to lab projects. They participate in quarterly meetings with lab leaders and are recognized as members of the Advisory Board. Ambassadors are also tasked with advancing the lab's mission by bringing new Explorers into the community.
  • Path to Advancement: After one year, Ambassadors can submit a proposal for a social presence project. Upon successful completion of the project, they may become eligible to advance to the Fellow level. Please note that the availability of stipends and the opportunity to apply for a Fellow position in 2025 are contingent on the lab's funding. If funding is not secured, stipends and Fellow opportunities may not be available.

*Please be aware that this role is voluntary and does not include a stipend.

3. Social Presence Literacy Fellows

  • Who They Are: Experienced educators who have shown exceptional commitment and leadership in advancing social presence literacy.
  • What They Receive: Fellows lead the way in the lab, with access to specialized training, leadership opportunities, and a stipend or honorarium for their contributions. They are prominently recognized on the lab’s website with a dedicated profile. Fellows play a key role in mentoring other participants and shaping the future of the lab.

*Stipends are available for Fellows and are awarded at the discretion of the Lab Director. Eligibility for stipends is determined not only by the completion of assigned tasks but also by the quality, impact, and scholarly significance of the work produced. The availability, criteria, and amounts of stipends may vary based on funding, participation, and other relevant factors. The Director reserves the right to assess each contribution individually and to make stipend decisions accordingly. Please note that the availability of stipends and the opportunity to apply for a Fellow position in 2025 are contingent on the lab's funding. If funding is not secured, stipends and Fellow opportunities may not be available.
