This paper poses some great ideas as far as emotional intelligence. I think it is important not to let our emotions get carried away as faculty members. While we can be understanding to a certain point, we have to be fair to the rest of the students who have no issues in class. I think it is imperative to let students know that we are available for questions and it better to get clarification than to guess. I feel that using logic more than emotion when teaching online courses is effective because we mostly communicate electronically. Trying to assess emotion in written communication often can get misunderstood and misinterpreted. However, nice work on the paper, and you make several valid points.
