Incorporation of SoTL Principles
Level 1: Demonstrates initial integration of SoTL methodologies such as reflective teaching methods or student feedback mechanisms.
Level 2: Consistently applies multiple SoTL principles across courses, showing a systematic approach to improving teaching.
Level 3: Exemplifies advanced and innovative application of SoTL methodologies, serving as a model of best practices in teaching.
Student Learning Outcomes
Level 1: Provides evidence of slight improvements in student learning outcomes due to SoTL practices.
Level 2: Shows significant measurable improvements in student learning outcomes across multiple courses or semesters.
Level 3: Demonstrates exceptional and sustained enhancements in student learning outcomes, widely recognized within the institution.
Teaching Awards or Recognitions
Level 1: Receives local or departmental awards for teaching excellence.
Level 2: Receives institutional awards or external recognitions for teaching based on the application of SoTL principles, , including invitations to prestigious events like CIRT's Teaching Showcase.
Level 3: Is recognized nationally or internationally for teaching excellence
Teaching Portfolio
Level 1: Submits a basic teaching portfolio including some evidence of SoTL applications and reflections on teaching effectiveness.
Level 2: Presents a comprehensive teaching portfolio with clear evidence of innovative teaching practices and detailed reflections on teaching philosophy.
Level 3: Develops an exemplary teaching portfolio recognized by peers or experts, showcasing profound insights and impact on the field of teaching.
Scoring the Rubric
- Each criterion can contribute a maximum number of points corresponding to the highest level achieved
- Assign Points to Each Level Within the Criteria
- Level 1 : 1 point
- Level 2 (Developing): 2 points
- Level 3 (Proficient): 3 points
Badge Levels Based on Total Points
Bronze: 5-9 points
Silver: 10-14 points
- Gold: 15+ points
