In this article, I suggest that an applied communication approach using Dell Hymes’ framework of “ethnography of communication” could serve as an intervention strategy in order to promote a greater sense of shared community within the college literature classroom. I explore this framework with consideration on how this communication approach could be used as a w
This paper provides a well written but lengthy argument for the use of ethnography and EOC. This paper also discusses the potential benefits for the use of EOC in teaching literature. However, this paper does not seem to fill a gap in the literature since there is no discussion of any research conducted using EOC to teach literature. This paper does propose that EOC could be used to teach literature but no case study was conducted or described. If a case study was conducted, the paper needs to describe how EOC was used to teach literature and how data was collected and analyzed during the case study.
Hopefully this feedback will be of help to the author going forward.
Your paper is very in-depth regards the potential benefits that EOC can provide in teaching literature. It is very difficult, however, to put forth an argument without any existing raw data to support the paper's claim. As a result, what it becomes at that point is a proposed theory. As the previous comment noted, your case study section needs information regarding the actual collected data; including such information would certainly reinforce the paper's claim pave the way for further research.
Blessings to you in your future endavors for this paper.
Thank you, Mary and Peter. I appreciate your feedback. At this time, I have not conducted an actual study, however, I do have plans to do so in the near future.
