It was helpful to hear about the many advantages that a written discussion forum offers over a verbal real-time format. Thank you for a hepful presentation!
This was a great presentation. It is was very clear and you made it easy to see the advantages of online discussion to engage in deeper conversation with students. Thank you!
Stephanie, I enjoyed your presentation. Your presentation reminded me that every thread a student makes is an opporunity to coach and teach our students. Thank you!
Stephanie: This was an excellent presentation, on a great topic! The information was presented clearly, and provided an interesting and compelling comparison of using the Socratic method in different classroom formats. One additional thing that could add to the otherwise excellent content would be to provide a few specific student comments with an accompanying Socratic response. Thank-you again for providing an opportunity to consider and use new approaches to enhance student (and instructor) learning!
Thank you for gathering and reflecting on this information. Your impression of the qualities and the benefits of online discussions is incredibly comprehensive. This is an excellent collection of our best understanding of what is experienced and the best practice of an online discussion. I especially love your observation about the presupposition of prior questions and prior thinking. Your presentation was laid out beautifully.
Thank you for sharing this presentation with us. I like you how focused on keeping the discussions in the class intellectually responsible. I know sometimes my students' comments devolve after a certain point into more of a friendly conversation as opposed to an academic one focused on class materials. I agree, an instructor post can help refocus these conversations, and I love the way you gave suggestions to help inspire students to reach the next level of academic thought through questions and structure. Thank you again for sharing these insights! :)
