This was a great presentation! I really enjoyed learning how the combination of Remind along with Zoom can increase participation. You have provided such great instructions on how to make this all possible as well as different ways to bring it back to the forums in the class to increase the attendance and to also ensure that all students are reaping the benefit of the zoom meeting.
Thanks for your presentation. You have addressed a problem often faced by instructors or other presenters--when they just do not attend. That might just be a danger that comes with the territory, but I like your suggestion of combining Zoom with the program, Remind. I know of high school instructors who used auto-text reminders on their cell phones to remind students of important dates when I was a supervising instructor a couple of years ago in Virginia for graduate students who were in their practicums in the classroom. That 18% increase of student attendance when you began to combine Remind with Zoom is impressive! I like the awarding of a participative post, too. Asynchronous attendance of the recorded Zoom meeting is icing on the cake. Good work!
Nice presentation! It was very interesting to see that pairing Zoom and Remind increased your student participation and engagement, and thereby overall student success. Thank you for including specific steps to get started. Sharing your success with the time and placements of your posts and announcements to help students find and join the meeting was very helpful. I look forward to trying this out myself.
Lynn and Jillian- thank you for this presentation. I really like how you have provided practical suggestions to incorporate synchronous components in your online classes. By pairing these Zoom meeting with alerts using the Remind App., I could see how attendance would increase. I look forward to incorporating this approach in my subsequent courses.
Great job on the presentation. I love the idea of pairing these two technologies. What a great combination! Reaching out and connecting to our students helps them to feel more comfortable with you. Increasing the level of trust with your students means that they will be more likely to reach out to you for questions. Attendance and performance both increase!
