Leadership in Research and Scholarly Activity Award

The Leadership in Research and Scholarly Activity Award is annual award presented to GCU faculty, administrators or staff who demonstrate outstanding leadership, innovation and service in the promotion of research and scholarly activity. Leadership in Research and Scholarly Activity Award winners are individuals whose promotion of scholarship and researcher advances the mission, vision and focus of GCU. The Leadership in Research and Scholarly Activity award was created to promote the leadership abilities of the university through recognizing deserving individuals but also to develop a culture of research and scholarly activity.

 

Leadership in Research and Scholarly Activity award recipients are recognized on the University website, receive an award plaque and a $500 monetary award.

Eligibility

Eligibility is open to both fulltime and adjunct administrators, faculty or staff working in either campus-based or online formats. Nominees must have at least one calendar year of academic service at GCU prior to nomination for the Award.

One award presented annually for each GCU campus:

  • Full Time Traditional Faculty
  • Full Time Non-Traditional Faculty
  • Online (adjunct faculty)

No individual may receive the Leadership in Research and Scholarly Activity Award more than once during their tenure at GCU.

Scope of the Award

The attainment for which the candidate is to be honored shall have occurred or culminated during the five years preceding the nomination for the award. The award will be made solely on the basis of support and promotion of scholarly or creative achievement.

Nomination Procedure

Annually in April, the Provost will invite nominations from faculty, administrators and staff. Nominations may be made by any member of the University community including retired faculty members. Faculty may wish to nominate a colleague or colleagues; self-nomination is also acceptable. All nominations must be supported by at least two sponsors, at least one of whom must be from within the University.

Awards Ceremony

The awards will be presented annually during the fall faculty conference held each August.
