How does being more intentional and present when communicating with students (through tone, timing of responses, or thoughtful engagement) influence the sense of connection and community in your course?

Students expect timely responses per their experiences with technology tools like AI and Google. If we don't respond quickly, they will seek answers elsewhere. If we respond quickly and courteously, this will establish open communication and community.
Tennille Feldbush, this is a great point regarding the potential impact of emerging technologies. Students' expectations could be skewed, and we must keep that on our radar. A courteous response is something that allows us to demonstrate our intention to help and strengthen our connection in the course. Do you have any "go to's" when reaching out to students? What type of greeting/response usually gets you the best, or desired, response?

I respond promptly, showing active listening by acknowledging questions and replying with compassion and empathy. I understand that students now expect nearly instant responses, so I do my best to reply quickly. With AI shaping their habits for fast answers, I encourage students to reach out early when issues arise, always showing empathy and doing my best to accommodate their needs.
Alfred Cramer thank you for sharing this. What stood out to me is the humanity in your communication. Something as simple as replying quickly and personably can open up communication and demonstrate your concern for the student. Thank you for sharing!
