Fostering Social Presence in our Classrooms
OfflineHi everyone! I enjoy having good conversations with my students, as I'm sure you all do too! A good conversation connects students to faculty and to content. One of my favorite strategies is the ABC method.
I'm always looking for more strategies to try! What do you do in your classes?

This is a great strategy, Georgette! Tom Dyer, our director at the Social Presence Literacy Lab, will often talk about being "real" as a key element of social presence. I believe that acknowledging the student - as the ABC method establishes - is an overlooked way we can establish a social presence in our classroom. It makes our connection with the student "real" and opens the door to countless opportunities.
