Angelo and Cross (1993) coined Classroom Assessment Techniques (CATs). "Classroom Assessment is an approach designed to help teachers find out what students are learning in the classroom and how well they are learning it"(p. 4). Research involving CATs within a traditional classroom has been well documented through research and literature; however, adaptation of CATs to the online classroom has not been thoroughly explored. This theoretical study will formulate modifications of Angelo and Cross' CATs techniques within an online classroom. This study will include strategies for transitioning traditional CATs into online education as well as identifying CATs that can be modified to meet the needs of online instructors and students.
