This research was presented as a poster at the 20th annual International Society for Neurofeedback and Research (ISNR) Conference in September 2012 (19-23). The presented research was titled, Insights Gained From Over 3 Years Of 19-Channel Z-Score Neurofeedback: Towards A New Paradigm. It entails an empirical, within-subjects, retrospective review of the 19-channel Z-Score Neurofeedback as a clinical intervention. The research questions evaluated were:
-Did the z-scores progress towards the mean?
-Are the post z-scores closer to the mean than the pre z-scores?
-Is there reported improvement?
The outcome of this research indicated that the 19-Channel Z-Score Neurofeedback as a clinical intervention is suitable for tracking QEEG changes from session to session. Thus, showing the z-scores progressing towards the mean, being the post scores are closer to the mean than the pre scores, and the improvement of the client was established (through z-scores calculations, and outcome measures or self report). In addition, while the traditional paradigm for neurofeedback is 40 sessions at a frequency of two to three times per week, the outcome of this study demonstrated that a positive improvement is reported, in less than 15 sessions at a frequency of one session per week.
