Many online classes being taught at GCU using Halo, as the ones I teach asynchronously, now include the new discussion forum called Summary of Current Course Content Knowledge. I'm clear on the fact that these discussion posts carry a grade point value of 0 for each student. However, my question is two-fold: first, are they mandatory for students to answer, and second, do they count as substantive posts for participation? I would love to hear some feedback on my question, thank you.

Hello Sachin. Good questions. They are mandatory for the students to answer, like the personal bio post. They do not count as substantive posts, also like personal bios. Thank you.

Good question. I see that they are mandatory, but with a 0%, I see that there is no real way to enforce it. I have some students (most) that answer it. -Mirta
There was some discussion on another forum about combining the summary and introduction. Mirta
Hi Sachin,
I seem to remember an email about the Summary of Current Course Content Knowledge before it started. I believe that it encouraged us to count it as a Substantive Participation post. However, it said that we would have to count the post manually, because it does not show up as participation in the Gradebook as Topic 1 Participation.
