REINFORCING STUDENTS EXPECTATIONS AND PERFORMANCE
This is just a brief summary of the above topic presented by Dr. Alexander Onukwugha, a faculty at Grand Canyon University. A more detailed and robust script will be presented on this topic
One very effective way of reinforcing students expectations in class is by being transparent with them about yours class and course expectations from start to finish.
Indeed you have to practically demonstrate this transparency doing things like the followings:
Clearly posting your class expectations in the Blackboard and notifying the entire class that it is not only important to read their class expectations but to get really conversant with it.
Ensuring you know and relate to all your students by name and have a personal rapport with each and every one of them.
Also making sure that stated objectives for quizzes and assignments are unambiguous and
Finally, positively encouraging them to work harder while promptly commending those who have demonstrated good performance.

Dr. Onukwugha,
I am glad that this topic is still available. I missed replying to the one that recently concluded. I agree with the comments that you made in your overview. I share many of the ideas that you presented on how to re-enforce the expectations we have for students in our classes. Here are a few things I do:

I am sorry I have to comment very late in your rejoinder because have been on tour.
Your comments on reinforcing students expectations and performance is very insightful and a big boost to the discussion
In particular the use of power point to present course expectations and regular reminders on those expectations would be very effective in carrying students along.
