Hi all,
I have a learner working on a doctoral degree. She'll be interviewing teachers on inclusive classrooms. I am looking for faculty with an educational background--preferably qualitative--to read her interview protocol and make comments. Please contact me if you could do this. [email protected].
Thank you!
Colleen

Thanks so much Dr. Rebecca. Yes, I think that you would be perfect for her review! She is finalizing some changes that I requested to her questions, and I'll send them as soon as I get them back!

Hi Rebecca,
Thanks again for offering to be one of my student's expert panels for her doctoral dissertation. She has finalized her questions and I have attached them to this email.
To give you a bit of context on her project, I have included its major components below:
There is a gap in the literature in terms of additional research needed focusing on both general education elementary teachers’ experiences and attitudes within the context of social acceptance in inclusion classrooms (Avcioglu, 2017; de Boer, & Pijl, 2016; Simplican et al., 2015).
The purpose of the qualitative descriptive study is to explore how general education elementary teachers describe their experiences modeling social acceptance and their attitudes towards the inclusion of students with disabilities in inclusive classrooms from Central Oahu District on the island of Oahu in the state of Hawai’i

The following research questions guide this qualitative descriptive study:
RQ1: How do general education elementary teachers describe their experiences modeling social acceptance of students with disabilities in inclusive classrooms?
RQ2: What attitudes do general education elementary teachers hold towards students with disabilities in inclusive classrooms?
Thanks again for your help with this!
all my best,
Colleen

Hello,
I'm unsure of what you need. So please feel free to lead me if my response did not fill your need.
Your questions are well done. The only question I have for you, is how closely will you follow this format? If every participant gets exactly the same wording throughout the interview there is room for validity. But if clarifying (individualized) questions are also used as the interviews are carried out, validity might be lost.
Good morning. I went through the form listed and came up with the following:
-In creating a narrowed study you could add the following background questions-
1. How many students have 504's
2. How many students have been identified as Learning Disabled and Behavioral Disordered?
3. How many students do you have with multiple disabilities?
-In your purpose statement you state, "...is to capture your perspective on inclusive education, social acceptance and interactive behaviors..."-
My question: When talking about "social acceptance" and "interactive behaviors" are you talking about the relationships between the students or between the teacher/student?
-You asked, "What is you opinion about the social benefits for students with disabilities in inclusive classrooms?"-
My question: What about the benefits to the students with no disabilities?
-Suggestion only-
Under "Theory of Planned Behavior" in the first item, you ask the teachers to give you a scenario. If the teachers are given the same scenario and asked how that teacher would handle that same situation, instead of asking them to recreate one - your study can have more validity leading to possible causation with less bias.
