Jean,
Since the only requirement for full credit on DQs is to respond to both required DQs with accuracy and detail by the due dates... how do you 'urge' students to follow through on this type of critical thinking... In other words, many students will not engage in an ongoing discussion with you, unless their grade will be affected. Some will; most will not. Jane
Hi Jane,
Yes, I agree... some students will only do the bare minimum to get the grade. Unfortunately, for those students, I don't know that we can force them to be more engaged... my strategy is to attempt to make it engaging enough that they will want to be engaged. But, as you said... there are some students that this strategy will not work for.
Jan and Jean,
I require 5 responses rather than the standard three responses in order for them to receive full credit. I state this requirement at the beginning of the course when I post the class expectations.
