Classroom assessment techniques (CATs) help to enhance student learning. Along with this goal, they can also be used to develop a sense of collaboration and community among students. Using these techniques within your classroom can open up discussion and dialogue allowing students to interact with each other on a deeper level and allow students to build off of their classmates posts. All too often distance education students can feel as if they are distanced by space from their classmates however CATs can help built a bridge to ensure a sense of community.
