Thanks for this information! I have wanted it for some time. Why would Jing be better than a Power Point presentation with audio? The only difference is you can show yourself.
Hi Carrie. Thank you for posting a comment! Jing is used to create a video of your computer screen, so you can use it to demonstrate to your students how to find their way around the classroom. It's useful if you want to show your students how to post a paper, for example. You can include the video of yourself talking if you use the upgraded version of Jing or if you use Camtasia. You have to pay for those programs. Jing without the video of yourself is free.
So, it's a little different than a Power Point because it actually videotapes whatever is on your computer monitor screen. Of course, Power Point is a very useful teaching tool, too, depending on what you want to show your students.
I think that auditory learners can benefit from YouTube type videos. This way they can relate what they see to what they hear. Typically auditory learners do better in a traditional environment, so it is our jobs as online instructors to help these auditory learners to feel more comfortable and confident with the online learning environment. Your presentation was great. Many thanks!
