Engaging Auditory Learners in a Visual Environment - Rebecca Hathaway

Online learning environments highly favor visual learners. By incorporating simple audio instructions, along with the written ones already provided, instructors can help engage auditory learners, and provide greater opportunity for success. In this video screencast, Rebecca Hathaway models the simplicity of creating audio screencasts  for an online classroom environment.

The advantages of audio screencasts are many, including the opportunity to use conversational language to explain assignments, add instruction, and provide helpful tips.  For students, more direction equates to better success.

In this ten minute video, instructors see an example of audio instructions created by Rebecca Hathaway, using the TechSmith software, Jing. (TechSmith.com) Rebecca walks instructors through the process of downloading and using this software program to record their instructions. Finally, Camtasia, another TechSmith software program, is demonstrated for those who want to add a visual component, or go deeper with editing.
