Offline In this screen cast, Dr. Jean Mandernach simplifies a major hurdle in quantitative research: how to determine which types of data you have. In a short video presentation Dr. Mandernach explains the differences between nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio data. Interestingly, understand which types of data you have is an important step to correctly choosing which statistical tests to perform.

I was hoping to hear what you what had to say about discrete versus continuous, which I discuss a little difererntly than the book.
Continuous data has no gaps, assuming a measuring system with infinite precision. Discrete data has gaps, but discrete data is not limited to whole numbers.
