The 6th Edition of the APA Publication Manual has added a new requirement for APA style references: the inclusion of DOI (digital object identifier) numbers for those books, chapters, articles, and other materials. The value of a DOI is that it allows one to easily find online materials despite changing links and web locations; the drawback is that DOI information can be difficult to locate.
A new website has been released to facilitate the collection of DOI information: CrossRef.org. Using this CrossRef system, you simply upload your reference list and CrossRef will find the doi numbers for you (if they exist). Simple, accurate and very efficient!
