Rick Holbeck and Kelly Palese recently presented at the Distance Teaching and Learning Conference in Madison, Wisconsin. Their topic was on the benefits of using online full time faculty. Some of the topics that were discussed included collaboration of online full time faculty to share best practices and create supplemental materials, timely feedback and grading, office hours five days a week, and the ability to proactively contact students using welcome calls and checking in when students fall behind.
Faculty chair and assistant professor Marybeth Nipp recently presented at the Distance Teaching & Learning Conference in Madison, Wisconsin on the topic of Strategies for Successful Group Work. Her speed session discussed common challenges associated with group work, the importance of building community, and how an instructor needs to adjust and adapt during the group work process.
