Welcome to a new fall semester! I'd like to highlight a few areas that might be of interest to you as you begin the new semester:
CIRT CENTER
*CIRT is now officially a "Center" on campus. Stop in to visit the new center!
FALL FACULTY CONFERENCE
*The fall faculty conference will be held the week of August 11. Faculty development will be holding workshops, such as faculty orientation, LoudCloud campus training, and using technology in the classroom. There will be several activities going on to kick-off the new school year, including scheduled campus tours. Check your email for specific times and dates or contact faculty development.
LEARN MORE ABOUT RESEARCH
*Interested in doing a research project but don't know where to start? The Research Ready tutorials are wonderful (https://cirt.gcu.edu/research/developmentresources/researchready). You read through 10 modules, and for each one you take a completion quiz and receive a certificate. These modules cover areas from library skills to publication. This is a great way to learn more about research and about the tools available for research. When I recently completed the tutorials, I learned we have access to the SAGE research tool to find research methods.
CV BUILDER
*Looking to build your curriculum vitae (CV)? Don't forget that there is now a CV builder available: https://cirt.gcu.edu/research/developmentresources/cvbuilder
ACHIEVE
*Do you have any recent publications or speaking engagements? We would like to highlight faculty scholarship on our achievements page, so send those in: https://cirt.gcu.edu/faculty_achievement
CIRT EMAILS
*Be sure to read CIRT emails when they come into your email inbox, as they often highlight new information and upcoming events.
TEACHING HELP
*As you begin to prepare for fall teaching, remember that our Teach tab offers teaching strategies, collaboration, and other resources. Check it out: https://cirt.gcu.edu/teaching
TEACHING ROCKS!
I'll end with some of my favorite teaching quotes:
"It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge." -Albert Einstein
"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." -Benjamin Franklin
"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education." -Martin Luther King Jr.
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." -Nelson Mandela
Make it a great year!
Sandi
