This is a great idea, Beverly. It is another way for us to formatively assess our students in the online classroom. I believe that students would be happy to work with this because the students enjoy the extra technology used, such as PollDaddy. I like that the students are given immediate feedback and they are also allowed to take the quiz again. The reflection piece is excellent as well. Thanks for sharing!
I actually did a survey for my students to see how they felt about the virtual pop-quiz. They all liked it and enjoyed getting the immediate feedback as it enhanced their confidence. I appreciate your comment!
Beverly, this is a nice application of "events" 6 & 7 of Gagne's Nine Events of Instruction. 6: Elicit student performance; develop practice sessions to provide guidance and build student confidence. 7: Provide feedback, including reinforcement, relearning, discussion, etc. Carry on!
Thank you Tom! I started using this approach as more of a trial and error fix to issues students were having with particular assignments. It ended up being a successful approach to help my students throughout the class. I appreciate your feedback!
Hi, Bev! I am very passionate about formative assessments because I feel that they help make grading the weekly assignments a little easier. I think that the concept you present is very effective. You have some excellent ideas and present good strategies. Nice work!
