Thanks, Jessica. This sounds like a wonderful method of connecting with your students while you answer their questions. I'm curious to know about how many of your students per class take advantage of your Skype office hours, and also what classes you teach.
Thank you for a great presentation- I really enjoyed it! What an awesome tool to connect with students! I am excited to implement Skype into my online classroom!
Jessica, thanks for posting how you use Skype in your classroom. I also have been using Skype with the CLC groups the past two terms. Talk about motivation and increase interest and participation, I feel strongly that this kind of technology is the future for Online courses. I even had a student from Germany that participated in our Skype CLC group. She was 9 hours ahead of us so we skyped Sunday morning, 7 A.M. Phoenix time and 4 P.M. her time.
I found your presentation to be very interesting. Although I like your thoughts, I do not think the use of Skype is for every online instructor. However, I do see how it can benefit those instructors who utilize it. Personally, I do not want my students knowing what I look like. I find that making phone appointments can be effective. I do like your angels and suggested teaching strategies. Nicely done!
