Thank you for your presentation, John! I especially like your approach to Turnitin, and how you ask students to consider why they have a high score. It seems like this serves the important purpose of giving students a sense of ownership in their score and also requires them to do the critical thinking you refer to in your presentation. I'm wondering, do you require students to rewrite their papers and resubmit to Turnitin after your discussion with them?
I am a firm believer in giving respect to get respect. In my experiences as an online educator, I find that if students want me to meet my expectations, then they need to meet their expectations as well. It works both ways. Having mutual respect will definitely help to build a strong trust between the instructor and student.
