ISL 20, 2012 - Improving Student Learning through Research and Scholarship: 20 years of ISL

CALL FOR PAPERS
In 2012 we celebrate 20 years of the Improving Student Learning Symposium with a conference theme of 'Improving student learning through research and scholarship: 20 years of ISL' so this year we especially invite participants to submit proposals which reflect back on what we have learnt over the past two decades, or would want to claim we now understand about student learning, and the research evidence that supports it.
Some issues contributors may want to explicitly address are:
  1. Teaching methods
  2. Assessment methods
  3. Course and programme design
  4. Blended and e-learning
  5. Skills development and lifelong learning
  6. Graduate outcomes
  7. Employability
  8. Diversity and inclusivity
  9. Supporting learners
  10. Faculty development methods and/or strategies
Submissions are invited for one of four formats:
Research papers (60 mins)
* New evidence/findings
* New analysis/interpretation
* Use of research tools
* Awareness/use of theory
* Focus on theme
 
Conceptual papers (60 mins)
* New analysis/interpretation
* Clarity of argument
* Awareness/use of theory
* Focus on theme
Seminars (60 mins)
* Topic interesting for discussion
* Use of evidence and theory
* Focus on theme
Symposia (90 mins)
Three related papers presented together.
