I've found the class demeanor to be more positive, engaging, responsive, and energized when I integrate a motivational message in the beginning and end of class. As a paraplegic, yet Guinness World Record Holder, I typically use personal stories or victory over adversity. I happen to be a motivational speaker, but anyone can motivate their class with a personal or well documented motivational story. Zig Zigler books are full of great stories you can share. Its a pleasure and honor to be a part of GCU and look forward to meeting more faculty. All the best, Dr. Rob Bryant

Rob,
Thanks for your message. I agree! Students can pick up on and feel the positivity resonate in a classroom with such motivational messages. In the public forum, students even contribute and help the upbeat attitude to grow. In the individual forum, a well placed and encouraging compliment can motivate and inspire students who might otherwise feel depressed or possibly on the verge of giving up. I find myself using this tactic quite often in class. Thanks for the explanation and showing us the way!--Dr. Priscilla Bamba
