Hello All,
My name is Dr. Beau Diehl and I am currently wrapping-up my first online course at GCU. Forgive me if this topic has been broached in the past, but is it feasible to have a College-Specific Forum for faculty? As an online instructor I would enjoy paraprofessional communication not typically afforded in the same context as campus faculty. It would be nice to discuss pedagogical styles, and even discuss potential research collaboration with other members of the Humanities and Social Science Department (HSSD). Essentially, it would be nice to have a “Class Wall” for instructors. If this type of forum exists, I would appreciate the link as I am active in social science research and teaching methods and therefore would appreciate the opportunity to converse/collaborate with other HSSD faculty.
Thank you,
Dr. Beau Diehl

There is no faculty wall but there are numerous topics regarding teaching processes in the faculty resource module. I also find it useful to review all of the topics in the student success module as one then can understand what the students see.

Thank you, Frank
I have found the faculty resources at GCU to be most impressive. I have also found my mentoring and training experiences to be most rewarding. Essentially, I am more interested in a platform to connect with other faculty and discuss potential research study ideas and possible collaboration efforts. With so many online faculty, I would imagine many of us share the same interests and desires to conduct research. Therefore, I would be interested in a college-congruent forum with an orientation toward buttressing the research presence at GCU.
Thanks again,
Dr. Diehl
Hi Dr. Diehl. There are college specific forums and a few course specific forums as well. When you click on Faculty Resources (from LoudCloud) you "land" on the Faculty Resource Page. From there, on the right is a link to Faculty Circles. If you click on Faculty Circles, you'll see forums for each college. You'll also see a Course Specific Forum. We have forums specifically set up for the higher attended classes (as a pilot). Please let me know if I can point you to any more resources and thank you for your interest in utilizing them!

Hi Beau and Frank,
I stumbled on a link this past week. It appears that there are some college specific forums set up and some course specific forums set up.

It does not appear that they are being utilized much.
I cannot remember Faculty Training and Development letting us know about these.

Hi Phillip, As I mentioned in my previous post, we have some pilot course-specific forums that have been set up. The Faculty Advisory Board recently hosted a workshop on the resources available in the Faculty Resource Center. You can click https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvNOpTwqMa0&feature=youtu.be to see some of the other resources that are available. Thanks, Georgette
