John, Sarah, and Samia,
Thanks for this presentation. I use Loom for video feedback for all my students, too. I noticed you said video feedback for all students might not be economical timewise, but it is has for me. I average two to seven minutes for each essay and use this for all my ENG/105 and ENG/106 students. The UNV/103 students love it, too, when I use it on their journal entries. Do you think it might be just how we plan and use Loom? For example, I use “live commenting” on each of the essays, leaving only a few embedded comments. I do not use Google docs, either, which is a big time saver. The only pre-work I do with an essay is I determine the word count and have that written down for my own reference. I use impromptu video recording, too. –Dr. Priscilla Bamba
Hi Dr. Bamba,
Thanks for watching our video! We have found it to be very economical time wise in some situations and not so much in other situations. However, we found it to be a very useful tool to add to the arsenal that can serve multiple purposes and offer another dimension to help students who are more visual and or auditory learners. I like that you mentioned is that you use impromptu video recording which is great! That saves time for sure! Thanks for your feedback!

Thanks so much for explaining; I haven't used this yet but would like to. Do the videos get embedded in the post for the student or is there a link they click on that takes them to a new window to watch the video?
Sandi,
I know this is not my video to which you are replying, but my video is also on using Loom (and Zoom and Remind, as well). I supply the link for the student in both the feedback box for an assignment as well as directly on their draft, which I also return. I also supply instructions for how to click on the link or copy and paste it into a new browser window’s address box. The student does not have to have a Loom account to view his or her video feedback, and they videos are kept in a secure location by Loom. I use it for grading all my essays and have had nothing but many positive comments. The UNV 103 students like it, too, as feedback on their weekly journal entries.

Thank you, Dr. Bamba, I watched it, and it was very helpful!
Hi Sandi,
Thanks for your message. Thanks for answering her question Dr. Bamba! Yes, they can be embedded or uploaded to youtube which makes them versatile. I like it as it can serve multiple purposes. Have a great day!

You are very welcome, Sandi, and I hope you experiment with Loom soon. I sent you an email with my referral link. :)
Take care,
Priscilla
