You have presented an interesting study that causes me to ponder my leadership style as an online instructor. I have a few questions and thoughts on your work for your consideration.
I would like to know more about who and how you decided to approach potential participants. Did you use a convenience sample or purposeful method for sending the invitation to the 100 possible participants?
If I was reading this correctly, the participants self-identified as one of the four styles and one even indicated they considered themselves' as a "servant leader".
I am wondering if there is a self-assessment inventory to help participants in the future with the identification of their leadership style?
With the growing development of online education, this is a great topic to follow up on as a research area.
What is the most effective leadership style for online instructors from the student perspective?
Thank you so much for your comments. I am just receiving this feedback so I apologize for my delay in responding. We used a convenience sample but directed it to all online instructors. We do not know of a self-assessment but that would be wonderful to have...definitely an idea for future research. We did not seek data related to the most effective leadership style for online instructors from a student perspective...another great idea for future research. Again, thank you for your feedback.
