One of the truths about people is that incentives help compel us to perform our tasks, whether nuanced or mundane, for survival or banal reasons. In other words, we work because we believe there will be some type of reward as Easterly (2002) noted, "people respond to incentives" (p. 27). As a full time online faculty member in the College of Theology, I get many questions about how can instructors make the spiritual values and Christian traditions of GCU more a part of their lives and more a part of their classrooms. As part of this process I am going to provide tools that will help the online instructors to have valuable information that they can use in their classroom setting. The goal is to help the instructor to be equipped to better answer questions or give the student’s tools to find answers to their questions. I would also like to provide our instructors with resources that will help them feel better equipped to do these types of things on their own.

How can we improve the learning process in introductory courses?
I recently took part in a meeting of a small committee that will be working on reformulating some of the introductory courses here at GCU. Part of the reasons is to improve the rigor of the courses as well as help link the content with a given course to the next courses in the sequence. There has been a rapid rise in the percentage of students taking online classes in the past decade.
