Teaching Circles

Teaching circles are designed to provide faculty an opportunity to discuss, collaborate and share best practices relevant to the specific assignments and activities of each target course. To join a teaching circle, click on the relevant course name. To start a teaching circle for a course not currently listed, please contact CIRT ([email protected]).

Welcome to GCU's Teaching Circle opportunity. The teaching circle, which you have access to, will provide you with the ability to connect with colleagues in your college, specifically the course you are currently facilitating. The purpose of this program is to share best practices and personal experiences in order to enhance our student's experience in the classroom.

Upon entering the "Teaching Circle", you will notice there are three tabs: DOCUMENTS, FORUMS, and WIKI.

For the DOCUMENTS tab, please feel free to upload rubrics utilized in your course, additional reference tools, and any other pertinent documents, which will compliment the current curriculum in place. Folders will be present to upload documents into. If you do not see an applicable folder, place the new document you wish to share into the miscellaneous category.

For the FORUMS tab, use this as a place to post questions where you are in need of assistance. If any questions are related to a specific student, please make sure to leave off the student's name and personal information. All inquiries related to students must remain anonymous in order to adhere to the FERPA guidelines. While this is an open discussion area, please remember to remain professional.

For the WIKI tab, here is where you can share personal experiences, activities conducted with your students, personal websites, and resources to review. Did you just attend a workshop or a conference and they presented you with a great activity or resource? Let us know here! The WIKI is a place to list idea and experiences, very similar to a blog. Questions should remain in the FORUM section of our circle in order to help keep information organized. Think of the WIKI as a place to write a short article to share J.

Remember, the Teaching Circle is a place to share information in regards to GCU's courses and coursework. The expectation is faculty will remain professional and abide by Netiquette guidelines as originally demonstrated in our faculty trainings. Please refrain from any negative, personal reflections and opinions. Let's make this a great, positive learning experience for all!
